I enjoy most all of Mina Carter’s Warriors of the Lathar books and this was a fun spinoff, taking you to another niche of the world she has created. This is a sweet story with a HEA. Even the grouchy male love interest ends up being very likeable and redeeming himself.
This is a sweet, easy read with likeable main characters and a HEA.
The story was good in the beginning and held my attention but it started to drag on towards the end. It didn’t need to be as long as it is.
By the end of this novel I grew to love Olive. A quiet read that explores small town life and how loneliness , marriage, aging and family dynamics shape the individual characters. At times sad but very honest about the messiness of being human. The author has a way of noticing the small details and moments in everyday life. I recognise a few "Olives" in my life after reading this.
Thanks - might attempt it later but I'm not in the right headspace for violence atm
Same! I liked the first few too then stopped
Violent and dark, with a basis in real historical events in China.
felt like I was watching a movie. Rich and funny characters with such depth. References that appealed to me personally [asian arts/culture, Judaism, video games]. Brought tears to my eyes.
Overall language and characters were unlikeable. Story had no depth and simply full of gratuitous foulness for the sake of poor vocabulary and the landscape and scenes were poorly written. Anti Christian
Ok, except for brief scenes of light p0rn, it's really fun. But you have to expect those in a campy vampire book, so...
