Chef's kiss
Favorite book, definitely will be rereading next year
Oh. My. God. The absolute plot twist this book has made my jaw hit the floor. Such a good read from beginning to end!
Oh my gosh! This book was amazing! I ate it up and left no crumbs. The ending (I’m a sap) made me cry bc it was beautiful
A definite read for anyone interested in getting their financial sh*t together.
The book is set in the 1800s and tells the story of three women, two who lived in the House for Friendless Women, and Minnie, the daughter of a Board member.
I really enjoyed the way the book was set up and Hill did an amazing job throwing you into these women’s lives. Reading how they lived and were treated as less than due to unfortunate circumstances.
Minnie’s story is a coming of age, realizing that things were not as she remembered and who was she to become the docile, obedient wife & mother?
I’m typically not a Stephen King kinda gal but this book was the perfect mix of a little spooky without being too graphic. The ending leaves you on a total cliffhanger which is frustrating but that gives you the opportunity to let your mind wander.
The journal entry style writing is pretty good, I was thrown off at first but it definitely adds character to the book with some detailed accounts.
There were times I had to push through this book by reading another but overall glad I finished. I read HOFAS right after this and so the cliffhanger was confusing because it insinuates that Hunt forgot everything after the new crown was put on? But HOFAS doesn’t follow that line of thought so I need answers.
I enjoyed this book, the crossover was a nice touch but there could have been more substance to the interactions between the ACOTAR characters and our CC people.
Even though the series feels finished, there should be another book over the House of Many Waters because we have had Earth & Blood, Sky & Breath, and Flame & Shadow. Feels wrong to not have a fourth book.
The last couple of chapters felt rushed, like Maas HAD to fit everything here. There’s still a lot of material that could have been drawn out to put into the next book but we will have to wait and see.
Also this whole different bonus chapters depending on where you buy it is dumb as heck. Personally I won’t be buying each copy to have them but would rather find them online and (MAYBE?) bind them into a book or have inserts for my HOFAS book. Seems slightly ridiculous to pay around $30 for 5 different chapters because that’s $150 before any taxes in USD! Hopefully this doesn’t become a normal occurrence.
