I loved these characters so much. I’m surprised at how rapt I was with the subject matter.

I love the world that Beagin created!!! One of the reviews on the dust jacket said they “chugged it down” and boy was that true!! I was enraptured. It was so sexually charged and intriguing. The dialogue was the best part- so entertaining. The subject matter was at times heavy, but the certain detachment her characters possessed provided comic relief but also spurred sadness. It forces the reader to consider their own relationship with themselves, with trauma, with mental illness, their parents, etc... Capitalism. Modern Psychology. Narcissism. Bicuriosuty. Big Swiss has it all!

That was really hard to get through. I kept holding out hope for something so kept trudging on. I get it, but there were so many trite, unnecessary sections of this book. I think the author read a little too much Thoreau.

You can tell a man wrote this book (lol)…but overall really good story!! There were just notions and phrases that a women would literally never say or do in the dialogue haha. BUT the story was really good!! I especially liked the apocalyptic glimpses. I’d give it 3.5 out of 5.

Meh. I’ve read his other stuff but this one was hard to follow. Yet also predictable? Idk. Not my fav.

I was holding out for a solution at the end. Like they would uncover some part of the abby’s genome that could be altered and allow for coexistence. Some answer unlocked by studying them some more. Idk.

Brilliant mind. Loved it. No notes. Best ending. I can’t wait to find what the rest of the trilogy brings.
