Fantasy-horror-western, super unique and a very fun read for spooky season. There'll be a sequel which I'll definitely pick up when it's out!
Maybe it's because I read this while in a bit of a slump, but this helped motivate me to write more than almost any other book on writing that I've read. Lots of fantastic insights even though some aspects are a bit outdated.
Absolutely adorable, in my top five reads for the year. I wanted to start over as soon as I finished it—and I want to eat muffins and jam by the ocean on a little island surrounded by friends! It's been a while since I read a book that I just wanted to live inside. I also thought the plot had the perfect amount of tension and stakes to balance out the coziness, and I loved the author's prose. Five solid stars!
Maybe I'm just in a really good reading mood lately but I think this is one of my favorite discworld books yet. Guess you can't go wrong with a book about a cat and a bunch of intelligent rats with names like Dangerous Beans and Additives :D
One of the most unique fantasies I've ever read, with some of the most fascinating worldbuilding I've ever encountered. Loved it, and I'll be thinking about it for a long time. Can't wait to pick up the next one
Spent a long time trying to get through this one and made it more than halfway, but it's just so loooong. Maybe I'll come back to it someday--I really do like the characters and world--but the pacing dragged :(
4.5 stars rounded down :)
As someone who usually struggles to get through non-fiction books, I thought the audio version of this book was super interesting. I thought the author did a great job portraying Poe as a complex human rather than the stereotype I heard about in high school English classes.
This book (particularly the audiobook) holds a special place in my heart ❤️
