A not very interesting look into a psychopath's psyche, who with the help of her family, tries to lead a normal life and hide her condition to the people who know her.
Gut punching. I read it in a certain period of my life when I could relate to Alex a little too much.
A perfect specimen of a book that depicts the dehumanization of immigrants by the powerful, rich countries. The nations that got rich off of the countries whose peoole they now deny entry to.
You're walking on a lush forest. The beautiful green vine in front of you camouflages a serpent lying in wait for you to let your guard down so it can pound at you. Strange the Dreamer, having such rich, poetic writing, sometimes felt like the perfect trap waiting to wrench out the reader's heart.
Reading this book while you yourself are in the depth of depression is not a good idea. The suffocating feeling along with Esther is why I needed to put it down for several months and then pick it up again.
