Who May Not Like This Book:

Those who prefer fast-paced plots or action-packed stories might struggle with the book’s deliberate, meandering pace. Some readers found the in-depth focus on botany and scientific theory a bit too much, and felt that the emotional distance created by the narration style kept them from fully connecting with the characters. Additionally, the sexual content and introspective, often solitary journey of Alma might not appeal to everyone. If you're not into slow-burn, character-driven novels thick with historical and scientific detail, this might not be your cup of tea.

A beautifully written, deeply researched epic about a woman’s lifelong pursuit of knowledge and meaning - best suited for patient readers who love immersive, character-rich historical fiction.

Truly captivated with this story, and then Alma reached her destination. I laughed, I cried, I audibly gasped throughout the first half this story. Alas, another wonderful tale with a half baked ending….still an enjoyable read none the less
