Who Would Like This Book:
If you love sweet romantic comedies with quirky heroines, family drama, and a dose of awkward hilarity, "Too Good to Be True" will hit the spot. Grace is an endearing history teacher with a knack for Civil War reenactments and inventing imaginary boyfriends (yep, it gets as funny as it sounds). The story sparkles with witty banter, lovable side characters (including an eccentric mom and an adorable dog), and a charming but complex hero. Fans of light, feel-good romances and those who enjoy books by Jill Shalvis or Susan Elizabeth Phillips will find a lot to smile about here.
Who May Not Like This Book:
If you prefer your romances to have dual POVs or spicy scenes in detail, you might be left wanting more since this one sticks exclusively to Grace's perspective and keeps things pretty PG. Some readers find the heroine's neuroses - and her constant mental chatter - a bit much, and the family and side plots can feel distracting from the main romance. The use of quirky phrases or British-isms might pull some readers out of the story. Also, there's a critique about the protagonist’s Civil War hobby, especially for those sensitive to representation or historical context.

Eh. What's sad is that I liked it quite a bit until the last 50 or so pages. H/H have a fight about something
really stupid (
Seriously, how does it even make sense? She can look past the massive and frankly damaging lies he has told, but one lie that hurts no one is a deal-breaker for him? That's completely stupid.
), and it really wrecked the couple for me. I was hoping the author would salvage it with the hero having a come-to-Jesus moment of realization
that he was being a fucking moron
, but no. He is able to bring himself to forgive her, and she happily throws herself into his arms in appreciation, because like all modern women, her life is just so incomplete without The One in it.
*sigh*
It was fun, funny, fast read, and really enjoyable until it took a sharp left turn into Stupidtown. Oh well.
