Who Would Like This Book:

If you're a Kristen Ashley fan, especially of her earlier works or The Burg series, you'll find plenty to love in this later-in-life, second-chance romance. The small-town setting gives it a uniquely cozy feel, and there's lots of heart in how family, friends, and kids play into the story. Hixon and Greta are both navigating the messy aftermath of divorce, and the book doesn't shy away from real-life emotional challenges like co-parenting, mental health, and setting boundaries. Readers who enjoy alpha but flawed heroes and strong, compassionate heroines will appreciate the journey. Bonus points if you love stories where the supporting characters shine and the relationships feel authentic.

Who May Not Like This Book:

Some readers felt the book was a bit too long or slow in places, particularly the first few chapters. Not everyone was won over by Hixon; a few found his initial treatment of Greta hard to forgive or felt his redemption arc wasn't quite enough. Also, if you prefer your romance heroes to have less baggage or aren't a fan of ex drama, this one may not be your favorite. There are also instances of character behavior and dialogue that some readers found a bit manipulative or overly dramatic.

Heartfelt, realistic, and classic KA - Complicated delivers satisfying drama and well-drawn characters, though the pacing and some hero antics may not be for everyone. If you love mature romance with messy lives and second chances, it's worth a read!

Couldn't get past the second chapter before returning the book!

I do not know why this book is so highly rated when the writing is bad and the author tries to camouflage her lack of skill with sex and F-bombs.

About the Author:

Kristen Ashley is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. She grew up in Indiana, but has lived in Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she's been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least), but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, living in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.
