The Black Farm pulls you into a uniquely gruesome purgatory packed with twisted world-building and disturbing creatures - think Clive Barker-meets-NoSleep Podcast vibes. Witherow’s wild creativity shines in the nightmarish landscape, and if you’re a fan of extreme horror, fast reads, and existential dread, this book definitely scratches that itch. Bonus points if you appreciate original horror ideas and can handle heavy, unfiltered themes.
Who May Not Like This Book:
Sensitive readers beware - this book is unapologetically brutal, with graphic violence, disturbing themes (including sexual violence and suicide), and enough gore to rattle seasoned horror fans. The writing has been called unpolished and juvenile, with flat characters reduced to tired tropes, fatphobia, and lazy stereotypes. Some found the relentless shock factor tiresome and the world’s logic a bit shaky. If you need nuanced characters, solid editing, or steer clear of extreme content, this probably isn’t for you.
