From The Publisher:

The riveting novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Liar.

"She stood in the deep, dark woods, breath shallow and cold prickling over her skin despite the hot, heavy air. She took a step back, then two, as the urge to run fell over her."

Naomi Bowes lost her innocence the night she followed her father into the woods. In freeing the girl trapped in the root cellar, Naomi revealed the horrible extent of her father's crimes and made him infamous. No matter how close she gets to happiness, she can't outrun the sins of Thomas David Bowes.

Now a successful photographer living under the name Naomi Carson, she has found a place that calls to her, a rambling old house in need of repair, thousands of miles away from everything she's ever known. Naomi wants to embrace the solitude, but the kindly residents of Sunrise Cove keep forcing her to open up-especially the determined Xander Keaton.

Naomi can feel her defenses failing, and knows that the connection her new life offers is something she's always secretly craved. But the sins of her father can become an obsession, and, as she's learned time and again, her past is never more than a nightmare away.

This is a very entertaining book from Nora Roberts, not her best one but I've spent some very nice time with it.

In the beginning I was afraid this will be one of those books from Nora Roberts where you follow the heroine's life slowly thought the whole book and where the romance part is just the tiny part in the end. Something like [b:Public Secrets|26053|Public Secrets|Nora Roberts|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388333214s/26053.jpg|1892993], which I didn't enjoyed as much as some other books by Roberts. Fortunately, this isn't a case.

The Obsession is more similar to [b:The Witness|12716613|The Witness|Nora Roberts|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1329921937s/12716613.jpg|17851429], not as good as the older book but built in the same way.

As always with Nora Roberts the characters are highly likeable. Maybe not the ones you will remember in ten years or completely unique for this author but you like them instantly and it's a pleasure to follow their story. Roberts knows how to make her heroine strong and independent and how to give her as strong and complicated man.

The suspense part is okay. Not the most innovative or full of action but well-constructed. Though, the personality of the killer is not a surprise for the readers of the other books by Nora Roberts.

A pretty nice read I'm rating 4.5 stars.
