Black Magic Sanction was chock full of mayhem, murder and madness Morgan style. Once again Kim Harrison has filled a
"Rachel Morgan" book to the brim risking overflow. An absurd amount of stuff happens in this installment and keeping track of it all is sometimes daunting. However, I continue to read along and trying to figure out, along with Rachel,
"What's wrong with me?!"
Black Magic Sanction had me laughing (Rachel high - LOL), questioning (Trent / Nick), tearing (Jenks) and fuming (the whole indecisive about just about everything Rachel can get annoying at times). I enjoy the series as a whole and will continue to read it, but I miss Kisten, maybe more than Rachel.
To sum it all up,
"Tink's Titties, Rach!"

I swear this series gets better with every book!
There are definitely some bittersweet moments and some downright sad moments, but it was overall a butt-kicking good time! I kind of wish poor Rachel would catch a break, however. The poor girl is a supernatural version of Charlie Brown.
I found this installment of the Rachel Morgan urban fantasy series a bit directionless. I also found myself getting annoyed with Rachel, who whines. A lot. "It's not my fault" is Rachel's response to just about every bad thing that happens in this book, and it gets very annoying. Harrison wants me to believe that Rachel kicks ass and takes names, but at the same time Rachel does not act but reacts for much of the book. I loved
The Outlaw Demon Wails, and I still enjoyed parts of this book, but after this I think Rachel Morgan will be something I read out of habit rather than desire. I'm getting tired of her weird sexual tics (turned on by danger, probably going to sleep with a demon (be real folks, it's going there), but lesbianism is too far beyond the pale?). I'm also getting tired of the contortions Harrison puts her characters through in which everyone is guessing weird motivations for other peoples' actions, and guessing what someone else guessed, and nobody trusts each other, I can't even keep track of it.
