Who Would Like This Book:

Emily McIntire delivers a bold, dark, and deliciously twisted retelling in 'Wretched,' where the Wicked Witch of the West is unapologetically the heroine. Fans of morally gray, powerful female protagonists will be hooked by Eveline - she’s fierce, clever, unflinchingly ruthless, and refreshingly layered (no damsels here!). The tension with Nick, an undercover cop, brings all the spicy, enemies-to-lovers energy, plus a generous dose of heat. If you love fractured fairy tales, mob romances, and anti-heroines who challenge the usual tropes (think: romantic suspense with a villainous twist), this one’s for you.

Who May Not Like This Book:

Readers who prefer their heroines sweet and their HEAs soft may struggle with Evie’s unapologetic darkness and the book’s high dose of morally gray actions. Some found the character chemistry a bit slow-to-start, wished for more romance over spice, or found the ending wrapped up a bit too quickly. If mob/crime settings, darker themes, or heavy power dynamics aren’t your thing, you might want to skip this trip down the yellow brick road.

A gritty, inventive, and spicy remix of The Wizard of Oz with a deliciously dark anti-heroine. If you’re seeking something bold and twisted with sizzling romance and a ruthless leading lady, don’t miss it!

I fidget in my seat, the old wooden bench tearing into the skin of my thighs and making me flinch. Dorothy, my sister—the one still alive—peers over at me, glaring down as if my movement is going to d...

I love when the heroine is the morally grey/ bad character in a dark romance. This was the book I looked forward the most too in the series and it did not disappoint. The series do not need to be read in order as the books don't have anything to do wich other, exept them all being a reteling of a book.
