This book isn’t for everyone - especially if you’re looking for a light, fluffy romance. The story is long (nearly 700 pages!) and dives into some very heavy topics, including addiction, fatphobia, betrayal, and grief. Some readers found the main characters frustrating, unlikable, or made questionable choices. Oookay, the first like 50% I was close to DNF. The MMC was really awful. Not only to the fmc but in general. Not big on playboys and all that. I am so glad I didn’t. Phoenix really had one hell of a redemption arc. The side characters really grew too. Made everything just so much better in the end.
I finished this book in record time. I was a little scared with the amount of pages, but it didn’t feel like a long read at all! Phoenix walker’s mysterious character isn’t a mystery when you’re able to read his perspective to all the events. It gives plenty of compassion and understanding. If you have ever felt self-conscious about your size, this book is for you.
