Who Would Like This Book:

This is a deeply heartfelt western historical romance that’s perfect for anyone who loves a good wounded hero with a heart of gold and a heroine who’s tougher than she looks. The journey between Houston and Amelia is full of emotional growth, slow-burn chemistry, and authentic post–Civil War Texas atmosphere. The story has lasting emotional resonance, realistic characters with flaws and growth, and just the right dash of peril and adventure for fans of angsty, beautifully written historicals, beauty-and-the-beast tropes, or mail-order bride stories.

Who May Not Like This Book:

If slow-burn romance isn’t your thing, or you prefer more plot-driven narratives over introspective, character-driven stories, you might get impatient. Readers who dislike love triangles, angst, “tortured pining,” or romances that require navigating complicated emotional conflict (including a dash of near-cheating) may find the drama here a little overwrought. And if you’re expecting lots of steam or rapid-fire banter, this one’s more about yearning than sizzle.

A touching, slow-burn western romance that tugs on the heartstrings - perfect if you love depth, angst, and beautifully broken characters finding healing together.

What a wonderful book! Unlike some others that I've read recently, the men aren't rapists, and the women aren't irrational. It is just a sweet romance. I will _definitely_ read the next book.

About the Author:

Lorraine Heath wrote her first story at seven, and it involved a fisherman who fell in love with a mermaid. She has since moved on to writing about sexy cowboys and dashing English lords-sometimes, cleverly, within the same book. Publishers Weekly says she is a master of her craft. She is, indeed, and along with being a New York Times and USA Today bestseller, she has won the Rita Award and three RT Reviewers' Choice Awards, as well as the RT Career Achievement Award.
