Who Would Like This Book:
Twilight is pure escapist fun and a total page-turner. If you're a sucker for swoony romance, forbidden love, or a fresh twist on vampires (sparkles, anyone?), this is your jam. Meyer's small-town atmosphere, easy-flowing prose, and angsty, irresistible chemistry between Bella and Edward have made this story iconic for teens and romantics alike. It's a gateway read for anyone looking to fall back in love with reading or craving a heady dose of teenage feels.
Who May Not Like This Book:
If controlling and obsessive relationships make you cringe, or if you prefer your heroines strong and independent, this story may rile you up. Critics often cite Bella’s passivity, Edward’s stalker-ish tendencies, bloated prose, and the repetitive coverage of Edward's beauty as major drawbacks. The writing style is simple and the plot slow to start, so if you like literary depth or complex character arcs, you’ve been warned!

Has Romance?
The romance between Bella and Edward is one of the central focuses of the book, marked by intense feelings and dynamics.
From The Publisher:
About three things I was absolutely positive:
First, Edward was a vampire.
Second, there was a part of him-and I didn't know how dominant that part might be-that thirsted for my blood.
And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.
"I'D NEVER GIVEN MUCH THOUGHT TO HOW I WOULD DIE- I'd had reason enough in the last few months -but even if I had, I would not have imagined it like this. . . . Surely it was a good way to die, in the place of something else, someone I loved. Noble, even. That ought to count for something."
When Isabella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets the mysterious, alluring Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. With his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true identity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret.
What Bella doesn't realize is the closer she gets to him, the more she is putting herself and those around her at risk. And, it might be too late to turn back. . . .
Deeply seductive and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight will have readers riveted right until the very last page is turned.

I extremely dislike this book and the others too. The characters are so...bland, I find the non-vampire/werewolf/Bella characters better. They have no emotions and it's just ridiculous. I couldn't bring myself to even read the whole book because it got boring. Edward this, Edward that. Ugh.
Reading Twilight for the first time as an adult feels surprisingly personal. Beneath all the fantasy and drama, it’s really a story about love, loss, and that deep, aching fear of being left behind. I see so much of myself in Bella’s need for connection—how she loves fully, even when it hurts, and how losing that love can make the world feel suddenly quiet and unfamiliar.
New Moon especially hit me in ways I wasn’t expecting. The way it captures that numb, heavy kind of sadness—the kind that doesn’t show up as tears, just silence—felt so real. That part of the story doesn’t feel overdramatic anymore; it feels human. It’s about grief, about finding pieces of yourself again when the person you built your world around disappears.
Reading it now, I don’t just see the love story between Bella and Edward. I see the story of a girl trying to understand who she is without someone else to anchor her. And maybe that’s why it resonates so much more as an adult. Because we’ve all been there—learning how to stand back up after being cracked open by love and loss.
It’s messy, emotional, and sometimes frustrating, but that’s exactly what makes it real. Twilight isn’t just a teenage love story—it’s about the courage to keep loving, even after you’ve been left in the dark.
This book is entertaining, but it is not good. Team Jacob for life.
Bella has the personality of a wet dishrag....or actually a dry one, at least a wet rag would be mildly more interesting.
I hated this book on principle, then decided to read it myself before I went being mean for no reason. My hate was quickly justified by tge midway point however. Bella is such a catty and shallow reactive character. I cannot tolerate spending time in her head, it is active torture. The only thing that could be worse would be when she spends time with the hundred year old, manic-pixie-jerkwad, man child that is Edward. My attempt to de-hater myself backfired hard and I can present a bulletin points PowerPoint presentation on why no one but the dad deserves a second chance.
this would turn out okay if the sequels did not follow. Great way to ruin an almost-okay book Meyer!
It was what i expected out of this book.
3.5/5⭐️
I felt like this was 440 pages of nothing and then 50 pages of jam packed action and an interesting read. I have high hopes for the series as a whole, I think it might’ve just been a little tough to have to kind of introduce all the characters, their backstories, their connections, the history, etc. and tell a story at the same time.
However, Bella and Edwards love was so innocent I fell in love with it. I highlighted so many times their relationship reminded me of my own, I can’t wait to see their relationship develop more deeply.
the cliffhanger in the epilogue??? o m g!!! Excited to read book 2 :)

i had a great time reading this. Was it horribly written? yes, 80% of the time. Was it unbelievably cliche and cringey beyond its wildest dreams? yes. Was it written like bad wattpad fan fiction? yes. Did i have a great time reading it? Yes.
This was just a fun book to read. Very similar to the movie. It is bad, but to the point that it becomes enjoyable again.
The last third was particularly bad and out of left field and didn’t match the tone of the book in my opinion. If that whole section as cut and filled with more high school and romance drama I think it would’ve fit the rest of the story better.
I think if you go into it with an open mind and don’t take it too seriously you’ll enjoy it. It is silly and goofy and stupid but really fun to read.
Rough wish fulfillment fantasy but it's readable.
