'Hot Six' by Janet Evanovich is the sixth book in the Stephanie Plum series where the protagonist, Stephanie Plum, finds herself in a series of comical and chaotic situations as a bounty hunter. The plot revolves around Stephanie's involvement in clearing the name of Ranger, who is suspected of murder, while dealing with the complexities of her love life involving Morelli and Ranger. The writing style is described as humorous, fast-paced, and entertaining, filled with quirky characters like Grandma Mazur, Bob the dog, and new additions like Mooner and Dougie.
From The Publisher:
Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum and Trenton vice cop Joe Morelli join forces to find the madman killer who shot and barbecued the youngest son of international black-market arms dealer Alexander Ramos.
Carlos Manoso, street name Ranger, is caught on video just minutes before the crime occurs. He's at the scene, he's with the victim, and he's the number-one suspect. Ranger is former special forces turned soldier of fortune. He has a blue-chip stock portfolio and no known address. He moves in mysterious circles. He's Stephanie's mentor-the man who taught her everything she knows about fugitive apprehension. And he's more than her friend.
Now he's the hunted and Stephanie's the hunter, and it's time for her to test her skills against the master. But if she does catch him...what then? Can she bring herself to turn him in?
Plus there are other things keeping Stephanie awake at night. Her maternal grandmother has set up housekeeping in Stephanie's apartment, a homicidal maniac has selected Stephanie as his next victim, her love life is in the toilet, she's adopted a dog with an eating disorder, and she can't button the top snap on her Levi's.
Experience the world of Plum-in Janet Evanovich's new thriller. It's surreal, it's frenetic, it's incendiary. Hot Six. It's the best yet.

Fun! This was another quick read with some very funny moments. I'm not one with her relationship fussiness, but that's just me. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the story.
I always admit that Stephanie Plum is not my favourite series. I generally enjoy it but don't love it. And there are some books in this series that I didn't like that much. Fortunately, this is not one of them.
Hot Six is actually a pretty nice and entertaining read. The plot is twisted enough and it's quite interesting. Stephanie is involved in a case connected with the local mafia and Ranger is accused of a murder. The best thing, as always, are the new friends Stephanie makes. They are hilarious.
Another good thing is that the books ends with some progress in Stephanie - Joe relationship. I hope it is not just a bluff and it will last at least through the next book because I was annoyed with the push and pull game in the previous books.
I also hope that the next book will be as good as this one. I'm giving 3.5 stars.
Book version just as good as the rest of the series, Avoid the audiobook - (rest of review about the audiobook) New narrator is HORRIBLE (unlike Critt who narrated previous books, King has the pronunciation and dialect of a British stage actress trying to sound like a Californian prep school teacher. She thinks periods are meant to be two beat pauses, Grandma Mazur sounds like Wilma Flintstone after a pot of espresso, Ranger sounds some 70s actor trying to parody a Mexican Spanish accent (Ranger was born and bred in the US on the East Coast, he's second gen. American. I am too. We sound like Americans because we are!) Even 1st gen born Cuban-Americans don't have this accent). (Morelli sounds like an Urkel trying to be manly). The whole thing is horrendous, it's as bad as the casting/movie version of One For The Money.
I thought audiobooks made me sleepy and annoyed, apparently it's just certain narrators like-Lorelei King - she should NOT be doing voice overs for men or anyone from the East Coast, she can't even pronounce Italian names (like she pronounces Gio as Joe - as a Brit would do, we pronounce it GeeOh) or our highways correctly...
she says Route 1 (pronunced as Root one) as Rawt one).
