From The Publisher:

***The 1st standalone novel in The Pucked Series***

With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn't interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. When Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet's misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match.

Suffering from a complete lapse in judgment, Violet discovers just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. Violet believes her night of orgasmic magic with Alex is just that: one night. But Alex starts to call. And text. And email and send extravagant-and quirky-gifts. Suddenly, he's too difficult to ignore, and nearly impossible not to like.

The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn't want to be part of the game.

Alright, I had to bail. At first it was annoying. And then it became unintentionally hilarious, in a train-wreck kind of way. And then it just got tedious. DNF @ 40%

I hated the FMC. Firstly, she's supposedly 22, but her characterization is a 12 year old. This chick lives with her parents (in the guest house) and lets her mom utterly rule her life - like, mom just walks into her house in the morning to wake her up and dictate her weekend plans, and chick just rolls with it. At one point, mom forces her to re-dress herself. This chick also has astonishingly child-like temper tantrums. I'm not kidding - at one point, we're treated to her storming into her room, slamming her door, blasting her music, punching her stuffed animal, and then screaming into her pillow. Yes, seriously.

She's also disgustingly sex-negative. She calls all the puck bunnies hookers, and calls all the hockey players whores. She treats her brother like a walking, talking STD - we get a scene where she picks his wallet up with a tissue so she doesn't have to touch it. And this isn't a once-off thing, it is a CONSTANT refrain in her narrative. But then at the same time, she is CONSTANTLY waxing on about the MMC's monster cock (I swear, that phrase had to have occurred 100 times in the first 35% of the book) and her beaver (yes, she's a goddamn child, see above), and can't follow conversations because she's too busy fantasizing about the monster cock. The hypocrisy is just too much for me, and the last straw.

Fuck this chick, and fuck this book.

Look, you can do funny banter without infantilizing your FMC - lots of my favorite books manage it. This was just awful.
