Who Would Like This Book:

If you love opposites-attract, enemies-to-lovers romance with a side of sharp banter, this one’s for you! The chemistry between Cameron (a whip-smart, high-heeled US Attorney) and Jack (the broody, badass FBI agent) positively sizzles. Julie James nails witty dialogue, mature leads who act like adults, and a supporting cast you’ll actually remember. If you want a romcom vibe mashed up with a crime plot - and you enjoy seeing competent career women front and center - this is your sweet spot.

Who May Not Like This Book:

If you’re looking for a twisty, edge-of-your-seat thriller, you might find the suspense element here underwhelming - the ‘whodunnit’ is revealed early. The crime and investigation portions occasionally stretch believability, which might bug sticklers for accurate police/FBI procedure. Some thought the romance followed predictable ‘hate-to-love’ beats, and wished for more mystery or originality in the plot.

Fun, flirty, and fast-paced - Something About You delivers sizzling romance, snappy dialogue, and clever characters. Not heavy on suspense, but definitely a pleasure for contemporary romance fans who enjoy strong women and lots of witty banter.

From The Publisher:

There's something about the New York Times bestselling Julie James…

FATE HAS THROWN TWO SWORN ENEMIES…

Of all the hotel rooms rented by all the adulterous politicians in Chicago, female Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde had to choose the one next to 1308, where some hot-and-heavy lovemaking ends in bloodshed. And of all the FBI agents in Illinois, it had to be Special Agent Jack Pallas who gets assigned to this high-profile homicide. The same Jack Pallas who still blames Cameron for a botched crackdown three years ago-and nearly ruining his career…

…INTO EACH OTHER'S ARMS

Work with Cameron Lynde? Are they kidding? Maybe, Jack thinks, this is some kind of welcome-back prank after his stint away from Chicago. But it's no joke: the pair is going to have to put their rocky past behind them and focus on the case at hand. That is, if they can cut back on the razor-sharp jibes-and smother the flame of their sizzling-hot sexual tension…

I loved it! Honestly, it was just what I was in the mood for - a fun, sexy, fast read, with a good dose of suspense. This is only my second contemp romance (both James books, as rec'd by Catherine), and I really need to check more of them out.
