Who Would Like This Book:

If you love your zombie thrillers packed with conspiracy, science, and sharp-witted characters, "Deadline" is a must-read. Mira Grant's post-apocalyptic world is scarily plausible, with bloggers as frontline journalists in a society shaped by fear. The world-building is top-notch - think Joss Whedon meets Contagion - and the action and mystery keep the pages turning. Perfect for fans of smart, twisty dystopian fiction who appreciate stories about survival, grief, and the search for truth.

Who May Not Like This Book:

Some readers were turned off by the heavy exposition, frequent repetition, and slower pacing in the first half. If angry, emotionally broken protagonists aren't your thing, or you prefer your zombie stories light on science and heavy on action, this might not hit the spot. The focus on grief and mental health, as well as the constant inner dialogue, can get a bit much, and not everyone warmed to Shaun as the main narrator.

A worthy, gripping sequel to Feed with fantastic world-building and a nail-biter of an ending - just brace yourself for conspiracies, character angst, and some serious cliffhangers!

Sensitive Topics/Content Warnings

Content warnings include discussion of mental illness, violence, hallucinations, death of significant characters, and themes of grief.

From The Publisher:

Shaun Mason is a man without a mission. Not even running the news organization he built with his sister has the same urgency as it used to. Playing with dead things just doesn't seem as fun when you've lost as much as he has.

But when a CDC researcher fakes her own death and appears on his doorstep with a ravenous pack of zombies in tow, Shaun has a newfound interest in life. Because she brings news-he may have put down the monster who attacked them, but the conspiracy is far from dead.

Now, Shaun hits the road to find what truth can be found at the end of a shotgun.

As with the previous book, this one was great. It would have been better if the sex scene had been cut out, as I think that the drama surrounding it was BS and insulting. Other than that, an excellent read.
