Who Would Like This Book:
If you crave fast-paced action, clever plotting, and strong dual perspectives, Legend is a solid pick! The story, told from both June and Day’s viewpoints, gives you a front row seat to two wildly different lives in a divided, futuristic society - the privileged prodigy versus the notorious fugitive. Both leads are sharp and layered, creating tons of tension as their stories collide. It’s an excellent fit for YA fans, dystopia lovers (think Hunger Games or Divergent), and anyone who enjoys a touch of conspiracy and a spark of romance without it taking over the story.
Who May Not Like This Book:
Legend isn’t for everyone. Some readers felt the world-building wasn’t deep enough or thought the premise was too familiar within the dystopian YA scene. Others found the teen protagonists a bit unconvincing - being elite rebels and criminal masterminds at just 15 is a stretch for some. If you prefer intricate prose or highly original settings, this might feel a little predictable or light.

4 stars.
“legend” is an action packed piece of literature that i absolutely devoured. between the enemies to lovers trope, and dystopian vibes, i was obsessed with this book from the minute i opened it. you won’t regret reading this one :)
I didn't even remember that I had read this book until I saw it in my "read" folder on my Kindle, that's how memorable it was. Then when I read the synopsis I remembered the unremarkable story and the fact that I never bothered to read the second book because the first was so... Underwhelming.
Very gripping and fast paced book, kept me wanting to read all the way through and finished quickly, defo going to read the rest in this trilogy.
3.7 stars. Feels like I'm one of the last people to start this series.. But better late than never. I good solid destopian YA with the very necessary romance and intriguing plot. Didn't fall head over heals with the story but I really want to read more in the series. A good start.
It was boing
I feel compelled to give this book four stars, because I read it in one day, basically. I had to know what happened to the characters and I couldn't put it down for very long. So there is that.
However, the crux of my problem with the book lies in what I consider the tired old dystopian refrain. Rebels, evil society, compelling enemy, etc. Yes, there were differences--the US is split into two groups, the Colonies and the New Republic. Do we know why they split? No, but we'll probably find out in a future book. And there's the Patriots working to liberate the New Republic.
I feel like maybe if I were more in the mood to read a book like this, I would've been over the moon about it. I feel like this book basically grabbed me when I wasn't expecting it and then hauled me along 305 pages. It's like a ride you don't want to get on, but you enjoy anyway. So you have mixed feelings about it.
For me, this story fell flat. The characters didn't inspire any sort of emotion in me, and the plot seemed to cross the line from fast-paced to rushed. I felt like events happened without any real reason or explanation, especially in terms of the characters' emotions.
This was awesome! It was so action packed, the pacing was great, and the slow drip of information into my brain was simply exhilarating
This book, and all others by Marie Lu, are masterpieces. Legend, Prodigy, Champion, and Rebel all have amazing storylines and well developed characters. Day and June for life!
