If you're a fan of the grovel and redemption romance tropes, "My Backup Plan" delivers them with emotional intensity. Lyssa Hahn doesn't shy away from complex, flawed characters - especially Rian, whose journey from villain to (maybe?) hero keeps you invested. The supporting cast and a dash of mystery provide extra intrigue, and the heroine's growth is refreshing. Second chance romance readers and those who enjoy raw, complicated love stories will definitely find something to sink their teeth into here.

If you're not big on jerk-turned-hero stories or if you struggle to forgive a main character for major past wrongs, this one might leave you frustrated.
